Organizing 2013 Using My Pinterest Boards

After a roller coaster of a ride in 2012, I am ready to get 2013 rolling. So many things happened this past year, happy and most recently, sad, make me ready to just move on and get the new year under way.
I love Pinterest. I pin a lot of things. Now that I have so many things pinned, I want to put all that time to good use. So I went through my pins and chose the projects I really want to do and started a project list.

One of the crafts I want to make is these dress forms. You can find the instructions here.

You can organize yourself with all of those ideas you pinned in Pinterest.
My lists will include

  • Menu planner - Menu Planning I love this idea! Use your cooking board (or whatever recipe board you have) and make your weekly menu with some of the things you pinned! Here is the link and credit for the picture at Farm Girl Recipes

  • Household Organizers - She makes 52 file folders, each for a week in the year. Staples to do lists, menus, b-day's etc, in advance. If only I could be this organized! I love this idea! Check out the link for this here at Dawn At Home
  • Daily Cleaning Chores maybe someday I will be this on top of things.
You can find this link here at My 3 Monsters Use her ideas to create your own schedule.

These are just a few ways to keep household items organized, the cleaning up to date and any other projects you have going on.

Being it is just Mr H and I, my lists will be pretty condensed. My major organization will break down into these categories
  • Blog planning - Found some great places on Pinterest to help me with that!
  • My JOB planning - I have notebook and file keeper for this that I keep at work.
  • My Shabby Chic/Victorian crafts planning - I keep a tote bag with all my necessary and current info and then I have a file drawer in my desk for all remaining things I don't need to carry with me. I also have a running list of items I need to look for at thrift shops and garage sales/flea marts/box lot auctions. I also have a word doc with the plans and projects I pinned off Pinterest.
  • My Avon planning - I have a tote for this as well. I keep current catalogs, order book, calculator, pen and notebook in here. There is a file in me desk for all others and I also keep a box with past order books that go back only on a few months. I purge the others.
  • My Thirty One Gifts Planning - I have a tote for this as well. Right now it doesn't have too much inside, just what I need to get started, a notebook, calculator and pens. I also have a file in the desk ready for this.
  • Appointments/engagement planning - I use my Microsoft Works for this as well as keep a pocketbook calendar in my purse. ALL appointments go in here as well as my MS Works calendar where I have daily pop ups on my computer to remind me of appointments etc.
  • Bill planning - Mr H pays all the household bills and I have just a few of my own - cell phones, car payment, car insurance and I do the groceries. I keep this on MS works as well.
  • Work schedule with all 4 of the above money making opportunities - goes in the calendar
  • Household chore planner - Mr H and I work together on this. It is mostly picking up after yourself and the regular dust/vacuum/bath cleaning. We do a major cleaning every season and split up the chores. We basically take one room at a time, stand in the middle and do a 360 with writing notes and what needs to be done. We also make note of things that need to be replaced etc.
  • Holidays planning - I use The Holiday Grand Plan at Organized Home. Here is the link for this here. I am giving you the link to the entire site, and you can easily find the Christmas planner there. I have been using this site for the past, I don't know, 10 years. I take bits and pieces of all the organizing tips and tricks and make it my own. If you haven't used this site, I encourage you to take the time to browse through it. It is always my organizing standby.
  • Garden planning - this is just a notebook I keep for my gardening. I bring it out every spring, go through past notes and then add to it with new things planted etc. My garden book goes back 3 years as that is how long I have lived where I am now. It is just a pretty lined journal book. I also keep/paste empty seed packs in it with the things I loved the most. I have also written in my journal ideas I have taken off Pinterest.
So basically, when I am planning something, I check my Pinterest boards and pins and make a project list from them as well as a meal planning list, etc. I keep a daily to do list ( which is basically a 3x5 post it tablet) that I make the night before. I use MS Works for scheduling and put all planning on there. I keep a pocketbook calendar in my purse to keep with me at all times. (The calendar in my purse and MS Works calendar coincide in case I lose either one!)

I want to back track and talk about my totes. I have 3 tote bags that I keep a plastic folder inside to hold any loose papers. I keep a spiral notebook for notes and the necessary desk type items like pens, calcs, etc. This way, depending on which event I am going to, I just grab the tote and go! They all sit on the floor by my desk. Any other things that I don't need to keep in the tote go into the desk in the designated folder. I am currently working on a tote that holds info for all 3 businesses so that I always have a catalog/info ready to keep in the car.

It takes some time to organize and trust me, thanks to Pinterest, I have learned so much! I just go to my boards and pick and choose the pins that I pinned to use in whatever project I am working on whether it be housekeeping, business, crafts, meal planning and so much more.

I will use the down time over this winter to get everything in order and make my 2013 planning list.
